Dhaka, June 5, 2025 – The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has officially announced a 16-member squad for the upcoming two-match Test series against Sri Lanka, marking a significant return for fast bowler Ebadot Hossain, who has been out of the national side for nearly two years.

Ebadot, who last played a Test match in 2023, was sidelined due to a knee injury that required surgery and a long rehabilitation process. Known for his raw pace and ability to extract bounce even on flat subcontinental pitches, his return brings renewed hope for Bangladesh’s pace attack.

“This is a very important series for us, and we believe Ebadot’s experience and hunger to perform will strengthen our bowling unit,” said chief selector Minhajul Abedin in a media briefing. “He’s been working hard at the High Performance Unit and has passed all fitness benchmarks.”

Squad Highlights

The squad features a blend of experience and youth. Shakib Al Hasan, who recently returned to red-ball cricket, will provide leadership and balance, while Liton Das continues as the main wicketkeeper-batter. The top-order is likely to feature Najmul Hossain Shanto, Mahmudul Hasan Joy, and Mominul Haque.

On the bowling front, Ebadot will partner with fellow pacers Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam, while Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Taijul Islam will handle spin duties.
